In Mr. Hardesty’s class, students and the teacher pause every 15 to 20 minutes for a fitness break. Breaks consist of one minute cardiovascular movement then one minute of stretching. Start to finish time is less than three minutes and then students and the teacher return to academic activity. Activities range from dot hopping and push-ups to dancing and jumping. Six recumbent bicycles with custom built desks offer an alternative for students who’ve earned bike time. When students pedal a minimum 15 miles a week they are eligible for special class prizes.
